Took a morning hike in Sleepy Creek WMA. I’m looking forward to the heat and perhaps some vegetation will catch up with the forecast temps. Lot’s of Duskywings were on the wing and Dreamy’s are becoming more noticeable. They’re first sightings typically run a tad behind Sleepy Duskywing in my experience within our area. Diminutive in size when compared to Sleepy and Junvenal’s. They also exhibit a bit more gray scaling on the dorsal forewings when fresh than Sleepy’s do. Also, the Palps extention is noticeably longer on Dreamy. Always exciting and only occurring in the spring were 2 Henry’s Elfin and 7 Brown Elfins. I’m looking forward to what the next few days of warm and sunny weather bring.
