Juniper Hairstreaks galore

Hiked a few miles yesterday in Larenim county park in Mineral county, WV. Weather was nice in the mid-60’s with a breeze. With plenty of Red Cedar in the park there were also plenty of Juniper Hairstreaks out and about, on the road, flowers and scrubs. Not to be outdone, Falcate Orangetips were pretty much everywhere with 40+ individuals seen. Males still outnumber females at this location. New leps of the year included Orange SulphurDreamy Duskywing and Pipevine Swallowtail. A lone Mourning Cloak was seen, only my third of the year. After this coming cool weekend it’s looking like we’re going to get a couple of days near 80. That will be very welcomed by yours truly.
